Build link

Pick a template or fill in the fields yourself. Everything runs in your browser.

What can the UTM generator do?

UTM parameters tell Google Analytics where a visitor came from. Without them, newsletter and social clicks often end up as “Direct” or “Unassigned”.

Templates

Newsletter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, flyer/QR and Meta ads with matching values.

GA4 channel

Shows whether GA4 maps the source/medium combination to a default channel.

Quality score

Checks required fields, lowercase, special characters and https.

QR code for print

For flyers and posters the tool creates the matching QR code as well.

How it works

  1. Enter the destination URL and pick a template.
  2. Add a campaign name, e.g. autumn-sale-2026.
  3. Click “Build link” and check the score.
  4. Copy the link and verify it in GA4 Realtime after sending.

Why it matters

No UTM, no attribution

Clicks from emails, apps and PDFs arrive without a referrer. Without UTM parameters GA4 cannot assign them to a channel.

Consistent values, clean reports

“Newsletter”, “newsletter” and “news-letter” are three different sources for GA4. Fixed rules keep reports clean.

Budget where it works

Only when every campaign is tracked properly can you see which channel really brings enquiries and revenue.

Frequently asked questions

Which UTM parameters are required?

utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. utm_term and utm_content are optional and help to tell variants such as buttons or ad texts apart.

Do I need UTM links for Google Ads?

No. With a linked Google Ads account, auto-tagging (gclid) takes care of it. UTM links are meant for newsletters, social media, partnerships and print.

Why does my link end up as “Unassigned”?

GA4 only maps known medium values such as email, social, cpc or referral to a channel. Custom values like “qr” need a custom channel group in GA4.

Can I use UTM links on my own website?

No. Internal links with UTM parameters start a new session in GA4 and distort the source. Use UTM only for links from outside.

Is my link stored?

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser.

Not sure which channel works?

We set up GA4, Google Tag Manager and conversion tracking so you can attribute every enquiry to its channel.
