The only way to find out whether ChatGPT mentions your company is to ask it systematically. There is no Search Console for ChatGPT. Ask the questions your customers would ask, repeat them several times and note which companies are named and which sources are linked. That tells you where to start.
Common reasons are unclear positioning on your website, missing listings on the portals the assistant uses as sources, few reviews, or content that only advertises in general terms. Technical hurdles matter too: if AI search crawlers are not allowed to access your site, for example because of an overly strict robots.txt or a firewall, the assistant cannot read it.
There are now tools that query AI answers automatically and count mentions of your brand over time. They pay off once you want to track more than a handful of questions. To start with, the table from the test above, repeated monthly, is enough.

There is no direct way to request corrections to company information. The feedback buttons in the chat do not reliably change the answers other users see. What works is correcting the sources the assistant draws on: your own website, directory listings, review portals and your Google Business Profile. Once that information is consistent and current, AI search picks it up over time.
That depends on whether the answer comes from the model’s training data or from a live web search. With web search, new or updated pages can appear as soon as they have been crawled. Training knowledge, by contrast, only changes with new model versions. After making changes, check answers in which the assistant links its sources.
OpenAI distinguishes between OAI-SearchBot, used for search in ChatGPT, and GPTBot, used for training its models. If you want to appear in ChatGPT’s search results, OAI-SearchBot should be allowed to access your pages. Whether you allow GPTBot is a separate decision. Also check whether a firewall or CDN blocks the bots regardless of your robots.txt.
